Father's Day

Erin made Jeff a card. It said,

"Dear Dad,

Jeff got some of his favorite treats and a GPS for the car. Now when we want one we'll be all ready!

We couldn't have a better daddy for us at this house. He works hard so I can stay home with the kids. He loves to play with them, give tickles, shoulder rides and ride bikes. We learn so much from you every day. Thanks for being the best dad ever!

Happy Birthday to Me!

My 33rd birthday was a grand day. The kids were super nice and helpful most of the day. Jeff surprised me with flowers and presents. We even got a dinner date out of the deal and went to Carrabba's. All of the pictures were not the best, so here is a super cheese one of me with my new Reef flip flops. Good times.

Webelos Day Camp

Since I am the Cubmaster for our Pack, I was able to go with the Webelos scouts to Day Camp. This year Ethan is a Webelos. It was fun to be able to go with him and spend some time together. We had a great day and I was grateful that we only had one cloudburst of rain for a few minutes. Definitely better than last year.

A Few More...

Here are a few more of my favorite pictures from the vacation. It was so fun and relaxing. I can hardly wait until next time. The waffles were tasty, the sand was warm, and we will have the memories forever! Thanks mom and dad!!!

Day Tripper- Thursday

Ferries, Pirates, and a Lighthouse

Ferries

We took a day trip on Thursday to Okracoke. It is another island south of where we were in the Outer Banks. To get there we drove south on Hwy 12 a bit and then had to take a ferry. It was a very "cool" experience. The cars get to drive onto the ferry and then the people can get out and watch during the ride. Our car was one of the last ones on so we had a great view right behind it over the edge. Unfortunately, something that never happens- did. A boat came way to close to us and we got soaked in its wake. All the way to the skin from head to toe. Apparently a super-rare occurance that we were able to enjoy all day as we never really dried out. Even in the heat and sunshine. But it made for a memorable trip. On the ferry ride back we took a more safe watch from the upper deck.

Pirates

Blackbeard the pirate went by the name of Edward Teach. He was captured and put to death near Ocracoke. We stopped by the shop called "Teach's Hole." It had all kinds of pirate stuff and a small museum. Jeff purchased himself an eye patch- to help with his blindness- and the kids all got their pictures taken in Balckbeard's cutout.

Lighthouse

Before leaving the island we made our way to the Ocracoke lighthouse. Since the parking there was extremely limited and visitors are not allowed to climb the lighthouse, we just made a quick stop. Jeff stayed in the car because we were triple parked and because he couldn't see anything anyway. I was able to snap a picture or two of the lightouse and the kids there. Check one more off the list!

Day Tripper- Tuesday

On Tuesday we took a day trip to the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk, NC. They held a kite making and flying class for kids. I can see why the Wright brothers chose to test their flights there. We had some great winds and the kites flew themselves!
