Adventures in Kindergarten

Erin's first day of kindergarten was Monday. Since we have a new school, there was no bus ride for her. Instead K and I walked her to school and into the classroom. She was so excited to wear her Hannah Montana light blue backpack; and she has had her first two days of school outfits picked out for over a month now. When I picked her up from school she was excited to tell me that she had made two new friends and her teacher, Mrs. Holyoak, is so nice. Her first homework assignment was to decorate a paper doll cutout to look like her. Immediately after getting home we had to do this- she couldn't wait. I love her excitement and enthusiasm! Ethan was bummed that I went to pick up Erin as this is his new "job" everyday- to walk Erin home from school, but I couldn't miss seeing her on the first day. It only happens once!

Olympic Dreams

We went swimming at the pool last week with my sister and her family. Before everyone else got there I was testing out some of my old swimming skills and swam a few laps. Upon completion of said laps Jeff looked at me and asked, "So, did you accomplish your Olympic dream?" Hardly! But Erin overheard this and then told me that it was her Olympic dream to jump off the diving board all by herself. So here are some pictures of Erin accomplishing her "Olympic Dream."

Third Grade

Ethan's first day of school was today. He is now in third grade. He is very excited to be at the new school, Lakeview Elementary, and to have the teacher he wanted- Mrs. Arney. The school is so close that he can leave five minutes before school starts and still make it there on time. It is so awesome!

Got Milk?

We had a family reunion at Wheeler Farm a few weeks back. The kids had fun milking the jersey cows. Ethan and Erin both got milk out. (A few days later Ethan told me that the milk he was drinking was probably the milk he got out of the cow- ummmm, no, but very cute.) We also had fun seeing the ducks, going on a wagon ride, and playing games with cousins.

Swimming Lessons, again...

We finished swimming lessons again last week. Since Ethan broke his arm in the middle of the first session I signed both the kids up again for the end of the summer. On the last day they got to go down the big waterslides. Ethan was too fast and I didn't catch a picture of him, but I caught Erin coming out of the slide. They both improved a lot. Ethan is swimming all over the pool and Erin can put her head under and do great back floats.

Baseball

We are not huge sports fans around here. Ethan has tried soccer, and I played tennis and was on a swim team in my younger days, but that is about as far as it goes. But we decided that it was time to introduce the kids to some sort of more professional sport playing so we went to an Owlz game. (Who am I kidding? Okay we went more because it was cheap, and a fun thing to do with family on a Thursday night.) The kids had minor to no interest in the game, but had fun running around the grass, playing on the playground, eating treats, and throwing the free balls (a giveaway from the game) down the hill. I still think that it was a successful night out and it was fun to get the chance to spend some time with Jeff's family.

Congratulations Rebekah!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to see Rebekah Hatten get baptized. Jeff served his mission for our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) with John, Rebekah's dad, in Donetsk, Ukraine. John and Miriam moved to NC a while back and we have missed seeing them around. They came back for a visit and were able to have Rebekah baptized here. It was wonderful to see them again and have time for some socializing. Congratulations Rebekah, we are so proud of you!

Because He Loves Me

Flowers. No special occasion. Just because it's been a while. Just because he loves me. And I love him so very much too!!!

Happy 24th!

We had a fun time celebrating Pioneer Day with friends in the neighborhood. We had fireworks, rockets, treats, and glow sticks launched from rockets and cannons.
